URGENT ACTION FOR MEDICAL CARE FOR SA'ADAT

We are calling upon the International Committee of the Red Cross, Doctors without Borders and Physicians for Human Rights to take an active role and intervene in the urgent medical situation facing Ahmad Sa'adat. He is currently facing a serious medical situation, yet is facing medical neglect and maltreatment by Israeli prison officials. International attention is necessary to ensure that Sa'adat receives access to proper health care and medical treatment.

Message To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my urgent concern for the life and health of Palestinian political prisoner Ahmad Sa'adat, and all Palestinian political prisoners subject to medical neglect and mistreatment. Sa'adat, General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, currently imprisoned in an Israeli jail, is suffering from a prostate disorder and a back infection, both of which require urgent medical assistance and treatment. Nevertheless, Abla Sa'adat, his wife, reports that the prison administration has repeatedly denied medical care, including an examination and treatment by a specialist, instead allowing only for treatment by the prison nurse. It is well-established that medical care for Palestinian political prisoners is systematically insufficient, neglectful and damaging to their health. I am writing to you to urge you to intervene in this case and call upon the prison authorities to ensure appropriate medical care and treatment for Sa'adat and all Palestinian political prisoners.
